About Pia

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, designer Pia Lindsay discovered her creative passion as a young girl when her parents enrolled her in fine arts classes at the Brooklyn Museum. After attending the High School of Art and Design with a focus on fashion, Pia moved to Los Angeles to study at Otis College of Art and Design. There, she had the privilege of being mentored by industry legends such as Bob Mackie, Cynthia Rowley, and Trina Turk. Her talents were quickly recognized, and she was selected to showcase her designs both inside and in the windows of Neiman Marcus, earning her the title of "Emerging Designer of 2012."

Upon graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and Fashion Design, Pia went on to work with major fashion houses, including Perry Ellis, Banana Republic, Tory Burch, Thomas Wylde, Tadashi Shoji,  Tommy Hilfiger and Karl Lagerfeld. Her career also took her overseas to Paris, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, where she spent time sourcing fabrics, collaborating with pattern makers, and attending market weeks. Pia's designs have graced the red carpets of celebrities like Regina King, Angela Bassett, Mary J. Blige, Tiffany Haddish, Megan Fox, Yara Shahidi, and Olivia Culpo, and have appeared in top-tier publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, and WWD.

After more than a decade of experience in both New York and Los Angeles, Pia launched her own brand, Pia Lindsay Studio, in 2020. Despite the challenges faced by the fashion industry that year, she channeled her energy into a more personal, meaningful project. With a focus on sustainability, bold femininity, and style, her first collection was crafted using dead stock fabric and hardware accents. Pia’s commitment to rethinking wastefulness, excess materials, and the impact of fast fashion became central to her design philosophy. “The pandemic, the surplus of materials, and starting something new during such a challenging time made me rethink the values behind my brand,” she says. “It was about creating something that truly lasts.”

In 2024, Pia Lindsay was invited to speak at the United Nations for her expertise in the fashion industry and her significant contributions to sustainable change through Pia Lindsay Studio.
